Programmers notes: Last year we paid tribute to the career of veteran filmmaker Sam Pollard, who recently relocated to Baltimore, with two screenings: a revival of Spike Lee’s Bamboozled, which he edited, and our closing-night presentation of his phenomenal film as co-director, Max Roach: The Drum Also Waltzes. This year, we decided to spotlight Pollard’s work by again presenting one of his films as editor and one as director, with a twist: both screenings are completely free to the public, thanks to support from Baltimore Community Foundation.
